Some friends invited JD and I to go fishing with them today - something JD loves to do. We bought a rod and reel on the way to the reservoir and spent a fun afternoon casting off, and jumping in their tent during bursts of heavy rain.
Despite the new and expensive angling gear, it was JD's simple "trap net with fish food in" that caught the only decent fish [see above]. But we had fun trying. We rounded off the day with a visit to Pizza Hut.
We spent today driving to, and climbing up, QiPan Mountain in the west of Kunming, with a Chinese family we know well. It was a winding drive and a foresty walk - an hour each. "QiPan" translates as "chess board" for reason which aren't immediately obvious - maybe the many statues placed on a flat area of land?
It's all mine
We had a fun day our with out new friends - a family we originally met at our Secret Forest den 6 months ago - visiting a mountain area they enjoy going to and sharing lunch and dinner with them. Our combined four e-bike convoy made the 50km round trip without recharging and the rain held off, despite dark skies. JD loved digging a slate mine, we diverted a small stream, made walled "gardens", played frisbee and caught a frog. What more could you ask for on a day out?
