Two of my longest-standing private students finished the final "New Interchange" textbook in the series today, and I gave them both home-made certificates to prove it!
"Wendy" and "Sunny" study English with me for 1½ hours each weekend for fun. Wendy has better pronunciation and listening, while Sunny has better grammar and vocabulary, so they make a good team. And my wife joins them most weeks too, to brush up on her English!
I teach five private lessons each week, 90 minutes each - some to kids, some to adults. One of these is to a young couple, in their home. Last week JD joined me as they had cooked dinner for us and invited JD to play with their 4-year old son, called Paipai (pronounced "pie-pie"). JD had a sort-out of his bedroom beforehand and brought a bag of unwanted "baby toys" to pass on. The dinner was a tasty mix of Western and Chinese food and the lesson afterwards went well.
One of my private classes is with a lovely young couple, "Christie" and "Chester". We meet once a week for a fairly informal English lesson. This week I invited them to my house for the first time, for a simple pasta bake meal followed by some ice-cream. They really enjoyed the food and then we took a deep dive into the past tense!
